The author gives a nearly exhaustive survey of 20th- and early-21st-century translations into Latin of Winnie-the-Pooh’s adventures. After analysing the methods of this type of translation, he studies the technical process used by Alexander Lenard in A.A.Milnei Winnie ille Pu. Liber celeberrimus omnibus fere pueris puellisque notus nunc primum de anglico sermone in Latinum conversus auctore Alexandro Lenardo, with notes and glossary prepared in consultation with Israel Walker (New York, 1962 ; reed. 1987), translated from the English text of A. A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh (London, 1926 ; reprint 1986).
Although, unfortunately, the level of Latin is not high, these modern neo-Latin translations make the Latin language more accessible to the general public.
